Food Allergies
We have over 25 years’ experience of catering for a wide variety of different dietary requirements ranging from a simple vegan diet to a diet for a diabetic child with coeliac disease and a life threatening nut allergy.
Our philosophy is that each and every child should have an equal opportunity to experience a residential visit with us and we will do everything within our power to ensure that their dietary requirements do not interfere with their visit in any way.
We take our responsibilities in this area extremely seriously. We request dietary information from the school several weeks in advance (please provide them with as much detail as possible, although for common allergies such as nut it is quite sufficient to simply state “severe nut allergy”).
Our domestic staff plan their menus in advance, checking every single ingredient, in every single product used even though, by now, we are obviously familiar with the products that are gluten-free, etc.
Special diets are served first to ensure that they get to the right child even though we aim to make your child’s meal as similar as possible to the meal eaten by all his/her friends.
Finally, we inform all our instructors of your child’s dietary requirements and the actions they need to take, for example, not including any product containing nuts in their own packed lunches.)
